Master of Arts in Teaching
The mission of the Master of Arts in Teaching degree is to provide an alternate pathway to earn teaching credentials. Often, people earn a bachelor's degree in a content-field, then for a variety of reasons, decide they would like to enter the teaching profession. The state of Kentucky does not provide a pathway for people to obtain licensure simply by passing certification exams. Therefore, the Master of Arts in Teaching provides a pathway for qualified candidates to complete the requirements for licensure, while at the same time providing them the option to be hired as teachers in Kentucky schools (referred to as Option 6).
