Dr. John P. Marsden

Welcome to Midway University!  We have experienced four consecutive years of enrollment growth. Our Fall 2019 census included 1,702 students enrolled in all programs – traditional daytime undergraduate, evening and online undergraduate, and graduate programs as well as dual credit students.

In order to sustain our growth, we have recently completed four renovation and construction projects including additional housing in Pinkerton Hall, the Hunter Field House, the Tracy Farmer- Don Ball Stadium, and a new Admissions Welcome Center in a renovated Marrs Hall. All projects have been funded through our Campaign of Opportunities, and we have not incurred any new debt.

Midway University was recently recognized by US News and World Report 2020 with a Top 75 Regional Universities- South ranking, placing 73rd. We were also ranked 3rd in a new category – Top Performer in Social Mobility. This category recognizes how well colleges serve low-income students. Other accolades include our recognition as a third consecutive Gold Level NAIA Champions of Character institution and several other rankings focusing on affordability and online education.

Despite recent transformations including university status and coeducation, we remain committed to our historical mission to provide students with a career-focused education grounded in the liberal arts in a personalized learning environment. Our dedicated faculty and staff care about our students and their potential growth, dreams, and successes. We are also committed to providing our students with an affordable option and offer generous scholarships.

As we continue to honor and celebrate our rich history from our beginning as the Kentucky Female Orphan School in 1847 to today’s Midway University, we are always looking forward and addressing the rapidly changing landscape of higher education. How we can best serve our students remains at the heart of our discussions about the future.

Thank you for selecting Midway University.
